Creativity

When I was a kid, my brother was the artist. He’d come home from school with beautiful paintings, clay pottery, sculptures, etc. Now he writes and performs and makes real things in a machine shop.

For years, I thought that he was the “creative” one in the family.

Then someone pointed out that making up a business from scratch was pretty creative too. Making a marriage work and making babies – talk about manifestation! I was creating ALL KINDS of things!

I just needed to expand my definition of creativity.

So, of course, I went to the dictionary. It said creativity is the use of the imagination or original ideas. Which was cool, but not quite enough.

So I kept looking. I found this:

Creativity is the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating with others, and entertaining ourselves and others.

So. Much. Better.

Not just about making stuff up in your head – but APPLYING your brilliance to the world in front of you.

Art is wonderful. But it is only one application. We need creativity in every corner of the world.

How are you going to bring CREATIVITY into your life this month?

P.S. Sometimes it’s hard to do it on your own. I’d love to hear what you are working on.  You can go to my calendar at any time to book a collaborative session.
